Eminescu on Cosmopolitanism
“Our people, I say, are of a dry, bitter, sceptical cosmopolitanism — nay, more: they have the fine habit of loving whatever is foreign and of hating all that is Romanian. We have broken with the past, whether in language, or in idea, or in our manner of looking and of thinking; for otherwise we could not pass in the eyes of Europe for a civilised nation.”

Do not hope and do not fear…
Only ask and reckon!
