The Electoral Threshold, Raised
The appearance of the platform “United for Sovereignty” has moved the System’s members of parliament to raise the electoral threshold to seven per cent for parties and ten per cent for electoral and political alliances.
They are afraid.
A single day after the founding of the platform “United for Sovereignty”, which set in motion the largest political alliance since 1989 — eighteen sovereigntist parties without seats in Parliament — two former Băsescu men with origins “in the forest”, one now a Social Democrat, Radu Cristescu, and the other a Liberal, Adrian Cozma, tabled a bill to raise the electoral threshold from five per cent to seven.
The consequence: if the bill passes, the threshold for electoral or political alliances will rise from eight per cent to ten.
The aim pursued by the security men behind the two “foresters” is plain: to reduce the representation of the Romanian electorate in the next Parliament, hence to reduce the number of parties present in it, to increase the share of the electorate redistributed to the System’s parties, and thereby to damage Romanian democracy beyond repair.
That this bill is no “parliamentary accident” is proved by the “happenstance” that it was signed by the Liberal deputies Alexandru Muraru, a man close to President Iohannis, Cristina Burciu, Laurențiu Cazan, Pavel Popescu, Nicolae Giugea, Maria Stoian, Ervin Molnar, Elena Hărătău, George Stîngă, Florian Dumitru, Luminița Barcari and other System men from the immediate vicinity of the hard core of the colonial-globalist power at the epicentre of the governing Coalition.
The parties belonging to the platform “United for Sovereignty” call upon all members of parliament of good faith to reject this anti-national and anti-democratic bill.
