On Ration Cards and Rationing
It will be all right…
Only it is not the war that causes these economic effects, such as rationing books and rationing.
These effects are the effects of the effects of the war, namely the severing and isolation of the small Planet from the great Planet, where the resources and the production of consumer goods are.

In other words, the economic crisis and the energy crisis will last longer than the war.
They will last as long as the “small Planet” lasts.
That is, they will become normality.
So it will not be a matter of a “war economy” but of a “dying economy… metastasised by politically correct dogmas.

“I have written before about the passage to a war economy. A process taking place before our eyes. Almost throughout the world. In plainer terms, basic products will be put on ration books. This mechanism, characteristic of great crises, is beginning to take shape in the states of Western Europe and in Hungary. But it will become general. Romania cannot be passed over.
Ration books mean rationing. Rationing applies to all products in crisis. That is, in deficit. Electricity, gas, petrol, food. The recipe may take various forms. But in the end, at least in the case of some of the deficient sources of livelihood, a system of ration cards will be instituted. The cards will allow us to supply ourselves with the minimum necessary. That is, with what is written on the physical or electronic card. In Hungary the process has begun. Rationing petrol means that every car owner receives monthly a certain quota of petrol or diesel. Which he uses as he likes, after buying it at a capped price. From the moment he exceeds the allotted quota, he will pay the increased price. Or he will simply receive no more fuel. The organisation of this system cannot be done without physical or electronic cards.
The war economy, the crisis economy, is causing in some states a reduction of shops’ opening hours. To save electricity, shops will close at nightfall. From that moment, citizens with urgent needs for products of strict necessity will, it is envisaged, have to obtain them at petrol stations, since some of these will be able to work round the clock.
Rationing by card will reach into people’s homes. Electricity consumption will be measured rigorously. In other words, it will be capped. Consume more than the allotted quota, and you pay far more, or you are simply disconnected from the grid. The reductions in consumption concern air conditioning in summer and the heat in the radiators in winter. In summer we shall have to bear much higher temperatures than hitherto, because air conditioning will be used sparingly, while in winter we shall have to survive at temperatures of 16-18 degrees.
The food crisis will have its consequences too. Such as ration books for basic products. We shall be able to buy less bread, less meat, fewer dairy products, less pastry, less oil. Perhaps we shall eat soya salami again. Perhaps, instead of coffee, we shall again drink the old chicory substitute. I repeat, this scenario holds good not only for Romania. But it is well that Romanians should know what awaits them. Because otherwise the measures will come like stunning blows of a cudgel. A responsible Government prepares the population in good time for such scenarios.
I hope I am wrong. I hope we do not come to such a pass. Slender hopes!”
