A Protest by Dancing, Stopped at Eleven
At 23.00 it all closed. Everything: music, lights, bar. And there was I, who had come out to protest by dancing and caterwauling…
Vama is dead. The seaside has gone dark.
The “beautiful and free” young people of every age are dazedly experiencing the sensation of the pre-’89 dictatorship, when the lights in public houses went out at 22.00. Only that in our days it is 23.00…
And the owners of the establishments watch, astounded, as bankruptcy draws implacably nearer…
#BadLuck!
Only the Sea watches impassively as history repeats itself. Like the waves.
And as we learn nothing…
#BecauseWeDeserveIt!
Postscript: shall I add that I did not hear a single whistle, a single jeer? No, the whole “youth” accepted the closing of THEIR establishments without a murmur. In the old days, in the communist period, you would still hear something, a sign of “opposition” at Costinești or Olimp. Today, nothing.
Just as all the owners and employees in hospitality have become, through passivity, the accomplices and collaborators of the murderers of their own businesses!
That is how a dictatorship is installed.
Through the cowardice and stupidity of its subjects.
And once again we come back to the importance of schooling…
